Scott Wray Piano Gallery History |
||
| Bill Wray’s
father, .Bill Wray, Sr, founded Wray
Music House in 1955 after consistently being top salesman month after month
for another piano store in town. He achieved this success by selling upright
pianos “door to door” mainly to farmers and rural households in the
Harrisburg, Pa. area. In 1969, 16 year old Bill, Jr. started helping his dad everyday
after school. In 1974, Bill was a founding partner in a new division of
Wray's appropriately named Do Wray Mi Pianos and was working all of his
college summers at the store. After graduating from Susquehanna University in 1975, he began working full-time managing the full line music store and the
acoustic piano division. Bill enjoys writing and recording music as a
hobby, and is a professional musician playing the piano or his Yamaha
keyboard for weddings, private
events, and public events such as riverboat dinner cruises on The
Pride of the Susquehanna., Saturday afternoon entertainment at Hershey
Park during the summer months, and is a regular piano player at the Final
Cut Steakhouse at the Hollywood Casino. Check
out Musician Pianist Keyboardist Billy Wray for more info. He's also active in his
local church, Christian Life
Assembly, having served on the church board as a deacon and in their music
ministry as an organist for the morning services and keyboardist for
their Praise Band. His wife
Kay, who also plays piano for the
church, is the store's Operations Manager. After Bill sold Wray Music House in 1999, Robert Scott and Bill Wray teamed together and formed Scott Wray Piano Gallery located in Olde Town New Cumberland. They wanted to provide the community with the largest facility for showcasing new and used pianos and keyboards. Their building housed five private teaching studios, an used instrument showroom, and a digital recording studio called Scott Wray Studios. The recording studio has now been closed. As for their business philosophy, both Robert Scott and Bill Wray believe in conducting business according to the Golden Rule: Treat others as you want to be treated. As of Feb. 15, 2004, the building site that Scott Wray sat on was sold to Integrity Bank, our building has been demolished and now an Integrity bank occupies that site. Bill has opened an eBay store and website Billy Wray Music Shop. He is performing full time. Bob is now tuning pianos and playing music. Bob and Bill would like to thank all of our past customers and we both look forward to serving you in the future. Check out our scottwray.com's items for sale on eBay!
